Chapter 2: Army of Light

Raphael was bleeding out immensely from the wound, he wouldn’t make it back to the hamlet unless we stitched him up and lessened the bleeding in some way. Reynald, not being much of a Doctor, decided to stitch up Raphael with the best he could. Reynald, being a religious man, prayed with all his strength while doing so, I noticed a good amount of bleeding began to stop when he finished. An unusual amount compared to what materials he had on him. Reynald carried both the man and Raphael back to the hamlet. We arrived there, but Raphael was about to arrive into dark abyss of death itself. We knocked on the Sanitarium, it was closed for today, it was too dark outside. Reynald prayed again and The Jehu said, “You really believe in him, Reynald? That he can make things alright? No one can save us from the darkness that ensues us except ourselves!” and Reynald responded, “Whether he may or not, faith is a powerful thing regardless. It can move mountains.” We sat there for about a few minutes and I began to cry. Why would life take away such a good friend and guard from me? Darkness, somehow became darker, until, all I could see surrounding us was light. A glowing aura came as a person of great faith and knowledge in blessing and healing came to us. I cried, “Please, can you save him?” and she said, “Forsooth, I may.” She began to heal the wound with magic and before we knew it, the wound was no longer there. “I feel a bit drained, however, that was a major wound to heal and a lot of blood to recover.” She said wearily, “I may need a nap for a bit” and before she head out to the barracks in town I said, “Would you like to join us in slaying the darkness?” and she responded with, “As soon as I recover, we shall. My name is Chengsha, just to let you know.” Then she departed from us and headed into the barracks. I was then approached by the caretaker, “Ahh! You finally made it! A man your young age shouldn’t be left alone. Also, I must show you something!” He led me up to the one of the top floors only to see the demise of my ancestor, he shot himself with a flintlock pistol in the head. Seems he couldn’t take the horrors of the atrocities he committed and slain himself. “Bury him in the graveyard.” I said as I left the room and headed back outside. Where I saw a Plague Doctor conversing with the Highwayman, he seem more alive despite the fact he was on the verge of death merely ten minutes ago. “So, you think you can wake her up with a potion? That’s crazy!” said Raphael and he responded with, “No, it is entirely plausible, science can provide great miracles of changing people’s conditions.” As he showed the Highwayman the potion, it had a bluish like look in the bottle, but it was in a gaseous form. I approached the Plague Doctor and said, “What is your name?” and he responded kindly yet proudly, “I am Hawaiianpikachu; Scholar, Doctor and Alchemist.” He seemed very trustworthy, but I wanted to ask him a few questions, “Are you sure this potion will work?” “Yes, it will.” “Okay, go and do it.” I led the Plague Doctor to the barracks and showed them where the Vestel was sleeping and he released the vapor near her face. She woke up, “I feel well rested.” She said. When I came to my realisation, we have four people, possibly five if I would to convince the other person and figure out why they were targeting Raphael, we could soon have an army to combat the darkness. “Let’s go on an expedition soon, everyone!” I said with confidence.
