Most commonly, a victory or win is achieved for a faction (Town, Mafia, Coven, all Neutral Killing and 3 Neutral Chaos roles) once there are no living members of the other factions (killed, lynched or converted). Some Neutral Benign, all Neutral Evils and 1 Neutral Chaos role may win independently of any faction because they have different goals.
A win may occur at the beginning of the Day (after deaths are publicly announced) or after a successful lynch. If all remaining players die at the same time, it is a draw by wipeout.
When members of opposing factions suicide (leave the game), they are automatically counted as dead (this means that the number of votes required changes accordingly during the Voting phase, and most roles are unable to use their ability on said players). However, a win will only trigger once their deaths are announced (Night death or lynch). If a player is lynched while all other opposing players left the game, the game will automatically end after the Last Words phase, even if their death was not publicly announced. This means that the game may end unexpectedly after lynching a Townie.
If there are no deaths in two consecutive Days late in the game (Days 7+), a draw by timeout will occur despite opposing factions being left alive.
It is possible to have games without any opposing faction. However, this is only possible in All Any and Coven All Any. When this happens, the game will immediately end as soon as Day 2 starts. It is impossible to end a game Day 1.
A kingmaker occurs when two opposite factions are left alive with one non-faction role, such as a Survivor or Executioner. One simple occurrence would be a Godfather and a Serial Killer left alive with a Survivor. The game will not end until a draw by timeout occurs, the Survivor votes to lynch either the Godfather or Serial Killer, or the Survivor gets killed at Night (most likely by the Serial Killer, so that they win).
A stalemate may occur when only two players are left alive who are unable to kill or lynch the other or one can prevent the other from killing indefinitely (e.g. an Escort versus an Arsonist). In most cases, this will not lead to a draw, but to an automatic victory for one of the remaining factions. This win normally goes for the faction with the lowest win rate.
Faction Victory[]
A faction victory is achieved for either the Town, Mafia, Coven, Neutral Killing, Vampires, Plaguebearer, or Pestilence if at least one member of one faction is alive while all members of the other factions are dead or converted (by any means). In case of a faction victory, all members of the faction win, regardless of whether or not they are dead or alive.
While Plaguebearer and Pestilence count as different roles, in the case of an Amnesiac remembering one of them and winning the game, the dead player will also win as long as they didn't leave, even if their roles are not the same. Despite having different victory screens, they are essentially the same faction.
Town Victory[]
This will occur when the Town is the last standing faction alive, meaning all Mafia, Coven, Neutral Killing, and Neutral Chaos (excluding the Pirate) are dead.
If a Vigilante is alive with a Witch, the game will continue until one of them is killed. The game will also not end if there is more than one Witch alive. A Transporter will win in a 1 v 1 situation only against the Mafioso.
Mafia Victory[]
This will occur when the Mafia is the last standing faction alive, meaning all Townies, Coven, Neutral Killing, and Neutral Chaos (excluding the Pirate) are dead.
A Mafia member will win in a 1 v 1 situation against an Escort or the Jailor without executions. Additionally, the Godfather wins automatically against a Transporter.
Coven Victory[]
Coven Expansion exclusive. |
This will occur when the Coven is the last standing faction alive, meaning all Townies, Mafia, Neutral Killing, and Neutral Chaos (excluding the Pirate) are dead.
In VIP Mode, the Coven can still win if all the Coven are dead (last Coven member dies the same Night the VIP does). A Coven member will win in a 1 v 1 situation against the Jailor without executions, and any Coven members without Role block Immunity win automatically against an Escort. Additionally, the Coven Leader wins automatically against the Godfather, and Medusa wins automatically against a Transporter.
Vampire Victory[]
This will occur when the Vampires are the last standing faction alive, meaning all Townies, Mafia, Coven, Neutral Killing, and Neutral Chaos (excluding the Pirate and other Vampires) are dead or converted.
A Vampire will win in a 1 v 1 situation against a Transporter or an Escort.
Serial Killer Victory[]
This will occur when Serial Killers are the last standing faction alive, meaning all Townies, Mafia, Coven, Neutral Killing (excluding other Serial Killers), and Neutral Chaos (excluding the Pirate) are dead.
A Serial Killer will win in a 1 v 1 situation against a Transporter, the Jailor without executions, the Godfather, the Mafioso, or a Vampire. This is due to its low win rate.
Arsonist Victory[]
This will occur when Arsonists are the last standing faction alive, meaning all Townies, Mafia, Coven, Neutral Killing (excluding other Arsonists), and Neutral Chaos (excluding the Pirate) are dead.
An Arsonist will win in a 1 v 1 situation against an Escort, the Jailor without executions, a Transporter, the Godfather, the Mafioso, a Vampire, or a Serial Killer. An Arsonist will also automatically win against most roles that have no way to stop the Arsonist so that the game does not drag on for an unnecessary amount of time.
- Against the Werewolf, both roles are capable of killing each other. If it is a Full Moon Night and ignition happen on the same Night, it is a draw by wipeout. If ignition happens on a non-Full Moon Night, then the Arsonist wins, however this scenario became unlikely as the Werewolf received a buff where the attack restriction is removed 4th night onwards.
- Against the Veteran, mind-games ensue.
Werewolf Victory[]
This will occur when the Werewolf is the last standing faction alive, meaning all Townies, Mafia, Coven, Neutral Killing (excluding the Werewolf), and Neutral Chaos (excluding the Pirate) are dead.
Most deadlocks do not occur with the Werewolf, as they will kill role blockers, kill Transporters and bypass Basic Defense. The Werewolf will win in a 1 v 1 situation against the Godfather, the Mafioso, a Vampire, the Veteran (with or without alerts), or a Serial Killer.
Juggernaut Victory[]
Coven Expansion exclusive. |
This will occur when the Juggernaut is the last standing faction alive, meaning all Townies, Mafia, Coven, Neutral Killing (excluding the Juggernaut), and Neutral Chaos (excluding the Pirate) are dead.
Plaguebearer Victory[]
Coven Expansion exclusive. |
This will occur when the Plaguebearer is the last standing faction alive, meaning all Townies, Mafia, Coven, Neutral Killing, and Neutral Chaos (excluding the Pirate and Plaguebearer) are dead, and they have not yet infected everyone (e.g. an uninfected Survivor and the Plaguebearer are the last players alive).
The win screen used to appear when Pestilence won in general, but an update before the official release of the Coven Expansion gave it a win screen of its own.
Pestilence Victory[]
Coven Expansion exclusive. |
This will occur when Pestilence is the last standing faction alive, meaning all Townies, Mafia, Coven, Neutral Killing, and Neutral Chaos (excluding the Pirate and Pestilence) are dead.
Non-Faction Victory[]
If all remaining faction members die in the same Night or a draw by timeout occurs, one of the following victory messages will appear. The message does not mean that all players with that role have won. Additionally, these roles may also win during a faction victory, even without their own victory message.
Witch Victory[]
Cannot happen in the Coven Expansion. |
This is the result of at least one Witch surviving when all faction members are dead. Only the living Witches will win. Witches do not win during Town victories or during any draw, even if there are no Townies left alive. In any situation with an alive Vigilante or multiple Witches, the game will continue unless either role is killed. In a 1 v 1 situation against a Vigilante without bullets, the Witch will win.
Executioner Victory[]
This is the result of at least one Executioner winning by having lynched their target earlier in the game. Only the Executioners that have lynched their target will win. Winning by becoming a Jester and being lynched does not apply. The Executioner does not have to be alive to win.
Jester Victory[]
This is the result of at least one Jester winning by being lynched earlier in the game. Only the Jesters that were lynched will win.
Survivor Victory[]
This is the result of at least one Survivor surviving during a timeout or wipeout. Only the living Survivors will win.
Guardian Angel Victory[]
Coven Expansion exclusive. |
This is the result of at least one Guardian Angel winning the game without anyone else winning. Only the Guardian Angels that have kept their target alive will win. This can occur in a draw by timeout while the target of the Guardian Angel is still alive. This may also happen if their target has failed to complete their goal, which is only possible if their starting target is a Pirate or Amnesiac, although Amnesiacs can also become either a Jester or Executioner and lose. The Guardian Angel does not have to be alive to win. Note that if the Guardian Angel died and their target is on the losing side of a stalemate, such as their target being the Godfather when them and a Serial Killer are the only two players left alive, whoever normally wins in the stalemate will win (in this case the Serial Killer), but the Guardian Angel will also win since their target (in this case the Godfather) is still alive, even though the Godfather lost.
Pirate Victory[]
Coven Expansion exclusive. |
This is the result of the Pirate achieving their goal of successfully plundering two people while the game ends in a timeout or wipeout. The Pirate does not have to be alive to win.
Neutrals Victory[]
This is the result of no faction winning except for multiple Neutral roles during a wipeout or elimination of all factional roles, such as the last two people alive being a Survivor and a Pirate (victorious or not). Any non-factional Neutrals that are alive will instead have their own win screen shown. If multiple Neutrals are alive, and at least one of them has won, this win screen will appear despite the fact that some alive Neutrals have not won.
Lovers Victory[]
Coven Expansion exclusive. |
This will occur only when the remaining players alive are lovers of each other in Lovers Mode. Lover pairs can be of any faction as long as only pairs are alive. If any non-lover players are alive, the game continues. Deceased pairs of lovers will not win the game, but the Pirate can still win the game if they completed their goal before only lover pairs remain.
Draw[]
A draw occurs when no player has successfully completed their goal. In a timeout, if any non-factional role, such as a Survivor, Jester, Executioner, Pirate, or Guardian Angel exists, has survived or completed their goal, their win screen shows instead and they will be the only winners of the game.
Any Amnesiacs or Witches that survive in the event of a draw will not win, but rather lose, as the former is expected to remember a role (formerly, they could win without remembering and had their own win screen, but this was removed before the graphic redesign) and the latter is expected to see the Town lose the game (since the Town does not lose in the event of a draw even if all Townies are dead).
Wipeout[]
A wipeout occurs when all players are dead. This means no members of the Town, Mafia, Coven, or any Neutrals are alive. In this case, factional roles will get a draw, while non-factional roles will lose (as they are unable to draw). Those that complete their goal but are dead will have their win screen shown instead, and everyone else will lose.
1 Only possible if the Poisoner applied the Poison the Night before.
Timeout[]
The game ends because there have been no deaths or conversions for two consecutive Days and Nights, and must be late in the game (Days 7+). There will be a notification on the preceding Day when this is about to happen. If the Vampires bite the last non-Vampire Town member on a Night where the game would otherwise end in a draw, the game will end in a Vampire victory, not a draw even though there is no death halting the timer in clear recognition of the victory.

Godfather vs. 2 Serial Killers vs. Coven Leader | Nobody can die, the Godfather or Coven Leader voting causes the Serial Killers to win |
NOnly applies if the Necromancer does not have corpses that attacks visitors available.
Stalemate[]
In the event that the final two players happen to be of opposing factions, the stalemate detector may activate, rewarding an automatic win to one of those players or factions. If a Jester was lynched during the Day, the game will not end in a stalemate, because a Jester's haunt can break any deadlock in this list. Below is a table which lists situations where the stalemate detector will automatically end the game to prevent a draw, and a list of roles that would otherwise continue the game as normal until either side is killed. The list for Coven roles is not finished and requires more testing.
J If the Jailor has executions left, the stalemate detector will not grant an automatic victory to their opponent, and the game will continue.
Notes[]
- Black boxes are for two of the same unique role versing each other, meaning that it is impossible for this scene to happen.
- Gray boxes are for two of the same non-unique role versing each other, meaning they both receive the win.
- Blue boxes indicate two outcomes:
- The game continues as normal until either side dies.
- The roles who meet are in the same faction, and therefore cannot be against each other.
Victory Conditions[]
On occasion, factions may cooperate with each other if their victory conditions specify so. If a member of a different faction is left alive by the end of the game and the winning faction's victory conditions allow for that faction to win with them, then that player would achieve a victory along with the winning faction. For example, if a Witch were to still be alive at the end of a game where the Mafia win, then the Witch would also achieve a victory along with them. The victory screen at the end will always prioritize a faction's win instead of non-factional wins, so if the Mafia and a Survivor win together, the Mafia victory screen will be displayed.
There are three types of victory conditions:
- Wins with: You will achieve a victory with the role in question at the end of the game.
- Must kill: You will not be able to achieve a victory until every member of the certain role is dead (unless there is a stalemate, in which case see above).
- May spare: By the end of the game, if this role is still alive when you achieve a victory, they may not achieve it with you. However, you do not need to kill this role in order to achieve a victory.
Note: Roles that are listed as "may spare" can still win with your role at the end of the game if they have specific victory conditions that allow them to do so, e.g. a Jester.
With | Town | Mafia | Vampires | Coven | Neutral Killing, Plaguebearer, and Pestilence | Neutral Evil, Neutral Benign, and Pirate |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Town | Wins with | Must kill | Must kill | Must kill | Must kill | May spare |
Mafia | Must kill | Wins with | Must kill | Must kill | Must kill | May spare |
Vampires | Must kill | Must kill | Wins with | Must kill | Must kill | May spare |
Coven | Must kill | Must kill | Must kill | Wins with | Must kill | May spare |
Neutral Killing, Plaguebearer, and Pestilence | Must kill | Must kill | Must kill | Must kill | Must kill | May spare |
Neutral Evil, Neutral Benign, and Pirate | May spare | May spare | May spare | May spare | May spare | May spare |
Exceptions:
- The Town and Witches must kill each other only if a Vigilante with bullets is alive or if more than one Witch is alive.
- However, instead of hunting for the Witch (in the case there is only one), it may be easier to lynch or kill any Vigilantes remaining, so the Town automatically wins without having to find the Witch. This can be risky, only do this if you are sure there are no other opposing factions alive or multiple Witches.
- Multiple Neutral Killings can win with each other if they are the same role like a faction (e.g. one Serial Killer can win with another Serial Killer), but must kill other Neutral Killings with different roles if presented.
- The Plaguebearer and Pestilence can win with each other, provided an Amnesiac becomes either of them.
- Witch does not exist in the Coven Expansion and therefore cannot win with any of the Coven Exclusive roles.
Trivia[]
- Before the switch to Unity, Pestilence used to have a victory screen that was much more different than other victory screens at the time.
- The Coven's victory screen is the only victory screen that is preceded by a preposition.
